Warehouse Interiors

When it comes to Warehouse Interiors, also known as Godown Interiors, several factors need to be taken into consideration before the facility can be conducive and operational. Today we delve into the various factors at play and how best to implement them in order to the maximise efficiency of the premises.

#1 Security

Regardless of the purpose of the warehouse, Security of the items that will be stored within the premises is of key importance. Proper security features like reinforced partition walls, steel barricades, roller shutters and access control systems help prevent entry of unauthorised persons to specific areas. You are also able to monitor the items that enter or leave the warehouse on a real-time basis.

#2 Storage

Storage applies to the placement and handling of the items within the warehouse or godown. Maximising the use of vertical spaces, i.e., the floor-to-ceiling heights, with various storage systems will guarantee that the warehouse is able to serve you properly. Also having well demarcated storage areas will enable you monitor the handling and dispatch or receipt of both bulky and minute items by your personnel.

#3 Equipment

Equipment in this case refers to both machinery and safety equipment. With the various storage systems in place, clear passage ways will ensure that your machinery can easily access and collect or store specific items. Safety equipment comes to play depending on the nature of items stored in the warehouse. Fire safety and first-aid equipment will come in handy in the case of any emergency.

#4 Office Space

To create a proper working environment for your staff, adequate Office Space needs to be considered then well laid out and/or partitioned, for ease of use. Break-out areas like lounges also need to be factored in just in case your staff requires some time to themselves.

#5 Customer Areas

As you’ll most likely serve the general public, having a Customer Area demarcated for their convenience will be an added advantage. Somewhere your customers can sit as they wait to be served, possibly have a brief meeting with one of your staff members or get additional information on the items you handle will be great. You can also consider having a receptionist stationed nearby to act as a liaison between the company and your customers.

#6 Ventilation

It goes without saying that for the warehouse to function properly, Ventilation needs to be in place for the entire premises. As most godowns already come fitted with roof ventilation fans, adding the necessary AC ducting for the enclosed spaces will ensure both your staff and customers have a more comfortable experience.

#7 Lighting

Lighting within the warehouse is also of utmost importance more so if the facility is operational throughout the day and night. Both natural and artificial lighting comes into play with more emphasis given to the latter as it is not timebound.

With all these factors in place, the warehouse interiors will now be conducive for work to operate more efficiently. We hope you find this information insightful, should you however need further clarification on the matter, feel free to reach out and we’ll gladly assist.
