Having inviting reception lobbies is not only necessary but paramount to the success of your establishment. Upon entry, the reception lobby is the first space a customer interacts with, and their reaction cum experience can go either way. Today we’ll delve into the world of inviting reception lobbies, and the factors you need to consider while designing the space.
#1 – Ceiling Detail
The Ceiling Detail need not only be interesting but captivating; you want that wow factor when your clients walk in. Double volume spaces with cascading installations, intricate well thought-out details, a beautiful render and layout will do the trick. Boring ceilings are a thing of the past, and the reception is the one space you have carte blanche to go all out with the ceiling design. This however, does not give you leeway to go overboard.
#2 – Accent Wall
An Accent Wall leading to, or behind, the reception desk is a must have. It draws your clients into the space and keeps them captivated as they are being served. With a myriad of options to choose from, the accent wall can be cladded, rendered, and/or painted to your heart’s desire. Less is more still applies here, and like in the case of the ceiling detail, simplicity goes a long way.
#3 – Lounge Area
Being a reception lobby, designating a Lounge Area where customers can wait while being served is a key consideration. Not only do they get to rest briefly, but also enjoy and fully take in every detail that went into the interior design of the reception lobby. Also, feel free to play around with the layout and furniture pieces to accommodate a more diverse group of people.
#4 – Lighting
When it comes to Lighting, alternating between task, directional and ambient lighting for specific sections of the reception lobby will further enhance your customers’ experience of the space. Use task lighting for the service areas, directional lighting for the walkways, and ambient lighting for the general areas, while not limiting yourself to the lounge areas. When done right, lighting beautifully sets the tone of every space.
#5 – Furniture
In most cases, the reception desk commands attention in the reception lobby, but it should not stop there. Furniture, as mentioned earlier, should consist of varying, numerous yet complementary, pieces to accommodate a diverse customer base. The furniture layout should consider solo visitors, couples, groups of family members, the young and the old alike. And comfort should not, at any point, be compromised.
#6 – Accessories
To crown the reception lobby, add Accessories like planters, artwork, décor pieces and reading materials. Again, less is more, the idea is to captivate your audience, not overwhelm them.
With all these in place, open your reception lobby to the public and witness the enthusiasm on the faces of the people interacting with the space. And should you need some help in piecing all these together, feel free to reach out and we’ll be more than happy to help.
